Jauk Dance

Jauk Dance is one of dance type that uses mask. Mask used has a strong character. This strong character is described with red face, open wide of eyes, thin mustache, and long canine tooth and sharp. Dance with this strong character is equaled with living wild giant in the middle of jungle. Body condition with long nails and hair, and also tufted.

The dance describes giant life in the middle of forest comprises of two types of dance that are strong jauk dance and sweet jauk dance. Strong jauk dance with red color mask and sweet jauk dance with white color mask. Strong jauk dance has an evil character, reflected from nature and strong dance movement and in reckless. Meanwhile on the contrary sweet jauk dance has good characteristic with attitude and dance movement inclined soft and slow but sure.

This Jauk dance usually danced on Barong performance implemented on certain ceremony. On the Barong story contains two groups that are group of god and goddess with giant group. Giant group usually is called with Jauk that trying to interrupt tranquility of god and goddess live in heaven, but all of those can be prevented by god and goddess came in the form of Barong. After experiencing age growth and for entertainment requirement, this Jauk dance can be danced by alone and become a single dance
